AFA Representative side field 4 Shirley 1st Teamers
Mike Mountford, Paddy Fanning, Anthony Hasker & Matty Shaw, played in Silhill's Centenary match on 31/08/08, with Mike Mountford (2) & Anthony Hasker on target, as the AFA Rep side came from 1-0 down to finish 3-1 winners
Winners….again!! (22/06/08)
The 1st’s entered an Rubery F.C 5-a-side invitational tournament, and came out winners...just!!
We cruised through the group stage, winning all but 1 game, which we drew. We only conceded once, and Scott Kite was the notable goal machine.
In the Quarter-Finals, we met Ferndale, and took control early on, with Scott Kite putting Shirley ahead. Ferndale had some experienced players and levelled through some 'ball-watching' by Shirley. After extra time, the game would have to be decided on penalties. Keeper Darren Brown, renowned for penalty saves, was key again, but new man Steve Ruck bagged the winner, as Shirley made the Semi-Finals, 4 - 2.
Woody F.C. stood in the way of another final appearance for Shirley. Once again Scott Kite put Shirley ahead, but it was a hard fought game, with Woody F.C tiring as the game progressed. Steve Ruck wrapped the game up, and made sure of another Shirley Athletic final appearance.
A great spirited and talented youth side, from Pilkington XXX Youth, called Rubery Madrid were Shirley's final opposition of the day. Rubery Madrid's younger team, soon took the lead and looked good. It was Ben Ince who managed to level things up for a tiring Shirley team. Once again, extra time could not produce a winner and penalties, had to decide the competition winner. Rubery Madrid had a couple saved by Darren Brown, leaving Steve Ruck to bag the winner, and the tournament trophy for Shirley Athletic

- HELP WITH THE PUTTING UP AND REMOVING OF THE NETS AND FLAGS AS REQUIRED.
- PAY SUBS AFTER EACH MATCH TO WHOEVER IS COLLECTING THEM.
- PAY ALL OUTSTANDING DEBTS BY THE END OF EACH MONTH.
- CLEAN KIT BY MEANS OF A ROTA SYSTEM OR DECISION OF THE MANAGER.
AWAY GAMES
- BE AT THE APPROPRIATE MEETING PLACE AT THE TIME AGREED OR ENSURE YOU HAVE DIRECTIONS TO GROUND AS AGREED BY MANAGER.
- PAY SUBS TO WHOEVER IS COLLECTING THEM.
- CLEAN KIT BY MEANS OF A ROTA SYSTEM OR DECISION OF THE MANAGER.
PLEASE NOTE - Players MUST pay the Registration fee of £5 per season to be eligible for selection during a season.
WITH EFFECT FROM SEASON 2007-8, ALL TEAM MEMBERS WILL PAY THE SUM OF £3 / £5 PRIOR TO ANY CLUB FUNCTIONS. THIS IS TO ENSURE ENOUGH FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE TO PAY FOR THESE FUNCTIONS.
